Every child wants to learn to read and write in Grade One. Yet, for the lowest achieving students, experience and research show that they are unlikely to become average readers without intensive teaching.
Reading Recovery Canada is a nonprofit charitable organization that works collaboratively with education communities across Canada providing specialized training for Reading Recovery teachers so that students in Grade One can receive Reading Recovery lessons in their school.
Reading Recovery Canada relies on the generosity of individual donors, Corporate partners, Community partners as well as Foundations to continue teaching kids to read and write across Canada. Each year, over 400 new teachers are trained in Reading Recovery. These highly trained teachers are helping over 20,000 of the lowest achieving children all across Canada learn to read and write at Grade level.
